THE PROGRAM TRAINING OF TRAINERS, NOVEMBER 2003
A three days combination of training and workshop to improve competencies in planning and conducting lively presentations and trainings on solar
technology.
Objectives: This could be the results This Trainshop strengthens your competencies in planning high potential trainings and
presentations. You can learn a lot about activating and participatory training styles. You will identify appropriate training methodology for your solar topics. You will find out, which
visualisations and media fit best to you and produce best results. And over all: Have more fun in teaching and presenting!
Topics: That's the plan 1. Content, benefit and message Identify the most important aspects of your topics. What are they good
for? What are the benefits for your participants? What is your trainer's “message” linked to this contents?
2. Learning objectives At what level your participants should know these topics at the end of the training? Identify the factors and levels which later on will indicate, that your participants had
learned well?
3. Participatory training style and teaching methods How to involve your participants? How to activate them? Useful workshop and training methods to give “inputs” to a plenary. Interactive methods and
dialogue techniques in training easy to use. Quick methods to keep information in mind.
4.Visualisation and media Telling stories as a tool to set up “lively pictures in the mind”. The power of hand drawn diagrams. Poster sessions and “guided visualized tours” in training. How to improve
your handouts and transparencies. Training beyond of Powerpoint and transparencies.
5.Planning training units How to build a helpful “step by step guideline” out of content, objectives,
methods and media? What to do in situations difficult to plan? Good ways to start and close lessons and trainings.
6.Additional topics Questions and situations related to your training jobs. Let us try to find helpful ideas and solutions.
Forms & methods: How we work This TRAINSHOP makes use of participants questions and their situations and experiences in
training. There will be short lectures and inputs on trainer's knowledge. But most of the time we work with interactive learning techniques out of training, presentation and workshop skills: A lot of
discussions, group work, practise and video feedback. We are sure, that there is not just one way to teach and to learn. These three days will be a good opportunity of mixing European and African
traditions of teaching and of learning from each other. If you like to work on your special training topics, please bring all your (already existing) training materials with you to this TRAINSHOP
(curricula, transparencies, handouts, ….).
